Did you know that most body shops don't have the training or equipment to handle your repair? The repair shop relies on poor in house training methods usually by unsupervised on-the-job training. Don't rely on the big-name body shops thinking they are any different because usually they are worse. It takes years of training to be able to perform the profession. The big box centers have an apprenticeship program that teaches a person with no experience to fix damage in 6 months to a year. while in training, they are allowed to fix your vehicle.
OEM Certification which stands for Original Equipmemnt Manufacturer, i.e., Honda GMC, FORD, etc., is severely under-utilized and also misrepresented in autobody shops, collision centers and dealerships. They may have one or two people that are certified out of the whole shop of technicians. This means that when you're taking your vehicle to a trusted OEM Certified shop, dealership, or insurance company recommended shop, the Certified technician may never repair your vehicle. It may be one of the other technicians or even worse, the apprentice!
The insurance company relationships pose another issue. Insurance companies have different programs called different names, but one thing remains the same, discounts! It matters because the autobody shop has to complete a timely repair with customer satisfying quality on a budget. Customer satisfying doesn't mean correct! It means if the customer drives away, it was good enough!
